From a template
Create a document by filling in the variables of an existing template.
1. Open the Generate document form
Click + Add on the documents list (or Generate document on the templates list). The Generate document form opens with the template preselected:

2. Fill in the data
- Document name — a name for this document.
- Supplier info — choose Private or Business, then either Find supplier to
load a saved counterparty or type the data in. This feeds the
supplier.*system variables. - Template variables — fill the user variables on the User variables tab and any editable values on the System variables tab.

System variables such as {date.today} and {supplier.*} are filled in automatically.
You only complete your own variables and the editable system ones (e.g. an amount or a
due date). See Variables.
The counterparty is the party of the document — it can be a company (Business) or a private person. The generated document is assigned to the selected counterparty and appears on the documents list (and on that counterparty's own document list).
Signing is a separate matter: a document must always be signed by a natural person — a company as such cannot sign. Signers are added in a separate step, when you send the document for signature — not here. Only a counterparty saved as Private can additionally be used as a signer. See Suppliers and Signatures.
3. Generate
Click Generate document. The new document appears on the
documents list with status GENERATED, ready to be
sent for signature.
If you turn on Required signature before generating, you choose a signature type and the button becomes Generate and send to sign. See Generating with a signature.
